* Leaking shower waters into the kitchen under the floor boards. * Cheap bedside table from $2 shops. * Run-down first impression. * A fair distance to the closest restaurants and shops.
nothing to mention, old premises, smelt of cigarette smoke
A little distant from the city centre but still covered by the Skybus shuttle. Pleasant walk across parkland to the city, Large rooms but old facilities. Can be noisy as some rooms back on to the driveway of adjacent property.
Enjoyed the walk through the Fitzroy and Treasury gardens on the way to CBD. Had a studio on Grand Prix weekend at a reasonable price. Furniture is rather dated and with a little updating the rooms could look much better. However it suited our purposes and there are lots of places to eat near here. Rooms at the front have views others just have views over the neighbouring buildings.
We have stayed here a number of times over the years and the rooms have always been of OK standard but 46 was really tired and in need of TLC. The carpets were sticky, shower shaby and kitchen very old. The cleaners did a great job and there is no doubt the bed was clean and comfy. Will try somewhere else in east Melbourne next time.
Paper thin walls, plumbing can be heared from every room in your room. Had a problem they were not interested. Try anywhere else.
Maybe I am being harsh.. But aircon didn't work, no shower gel or even shampoo provided.. Big holes in the arms if sofa (sponge padding coming out) Just cheap and nasty..
Staff are very friendly and helpful, even lending me a cable to charge my phone. The rooms are clean, well appointed, with kitchen basics, iron, tea and coffee facilities. The location is good, walking distance to Carlton (a fair walk, but interesting buildings etc), handy to trams (number 109) to the city or Balwyn, surrounded by plenty of open and green spaces. The inhouse coffee shop is subcontracted, and too unreliable for me, but there is a good coffee shop with good coffee and breakfast about 3 mins walk away. About 5 min walk east towards Richmond, is a good Asian shopping area, with lots of interesting people and shops. The hotel also has free shuttle to the Southern Cross interchange, to connect to transport including Tullamarine. ie for the standard fare, you can go to/from the airport. The rate I paid was very reasonable for the location and facilities. It's clean, cheerful, well but basic appointed. I'll certainly be staying again. For a comparison, I have to pay roughly double to stay in Sydney. I'll be using this hotel for the foreseeable future.
Location is very convenient. The place is hygienic. Staff goes out of their way to accommodate your requests. The problem is that you should not have to make some of the requests in the first place. Quality of the furnishing is taking definition of budget to a new level. I am not choosy, but I refused first offered room. Then I was allowed to pick my own. Parking at "no extra cost" is worth every penny of its price tag. It is so cramped that its begs for accidents. Comprehensive insurance for your vehicle is highly recommended. Also if you are allergic to tobacco smoke, find another smoke-free environment. Staff are doing what little they can, but are not able to police (discipline) guests and/or cleaners.
Although this was a budget accommodation but certain things disappointed me, particularly the quality of beds, below average TV, not provision of DVD player whereas the hotel web site mentioned DVD is included it ended up being an extra that we will have to pay for
W were looking for somewhere to stay fairly last minute, leaving few options we could afford. Eastern Townhouse was a reasonable price and close enough to the city centre to be in easy walking distance, yet also far enough out to be quiet. The one bedroom apartment was simple, but had a bigger kitchenette than most places have. The room heater was also very good, which is a must in Melbourne in winter. And the shower was fantastic: excellent hot water, excellent pressure. If you want somewhere fancy, this won't be for you, but if you want comfort and affordability, it's a good choice.
A nice pleasant apartment just outside the city. Definitely a useful place if you need to stay at one the nearby hospitals. A little bit out out of the way, but close to frequent public transport (trains, trams running every 10 minutes on weekend) so wasn't a major concern not having a car. Plus plenty of opportunities to explore the area (see my travel tip), if you don't mind a walk. Was pleasantly surprised with some chocolates after pointing out a flaw in the room. PS: The only downside was a lack of shampoo - make sure you bring your own!!!
Room was good No staff to be seen Car park exit was very poor and there should be some intervention by the Local Council. Driveway exit far too narrow and shrubs need pruning to avoid scratching cars Clean towels only on the 1st day Reasonably quite location Coffee shop situated on premises
This fulfilled our needs. Reasonable price, comfortable and basic. All in working order. Bathroom a little shabby but clean. Most difficulty with shower over bath - very high to step in and out (not recommended for old or young!) Nice area close to CBD - short walk to tram.Short walk to small supermarket for supplies.
This was one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. The room needing painting badly, the toilet leaked, the furniture was run down and the walls were thin. Not much good I can say about it.
This would have to be the most run down, dirty place I have ever stayed in. The bathroom floor was dirty, the toilet was leaking and the room was just generally old and very unloved. The only upside was that it was fairly close to the city.
This is a good location, central to everything. Unfortunately the premises need a good make over. The shower recess need a good clean with bleach to get the mould off it. The exhaust fan has not been cleaned in the past 12 months. The windows needed a clean, and hard to open . It just needs a good clean and freshen up with a paint. We found the tram into the city is only five minutes away. Great for gettig around.
A really good ratio price / room at 20 min of the city center by walk. They need to improved the cleanliness of the room.
Easy check in/ out. Short walk to MCG, CBD and other main attractions. Very ordinary parking facilities, nearly impossible for large cars to get in and out of carpark.
Rooms getting a bit tired, in need of a makeover but the price makes up for it. Internet was not working and staff were unable to correct it, but they were helpful with every other request.
